Role Type: Permanent (3 days a week, with a minimum of two days in the office)
Compensation Package: $120,000 - $14,000 (prorated for 3 days - $72,000 - $84,000) + 3 weeks’ vacation + benefits

Our client is a reputable law firm specializing in complex commercial litigation. They handle a wide range of cases, including product liability, risk management, class actions, and arbitration. The firm serves a diverse group of clients, from large corporations to government entities, and is known for its expertise in the automotive and commercial insurance sectors. They are committed to providing high-quality legal services and advocating for their clients in insurance coverage disputes.
Your new role
As an accounting manager, you will be responsible for various banking tasks, including processing bank deposits, reviewing bank balances daily, and reconciling trust and general accounts monthly. You will also handle billings and rates, ensuring disbursements are posted to client ledgers prior to billing each month, tracking write-offs and write-downs, and assisting in month-end billing and annual rate renewal.
In terms of payroll, you will post bi-weekly payroll entries to the general ledger, prepare biweekly payroll for approval, and manage year-end reconciliation and EHT filing. Your finance responsibilities will include preparing and posting month-end adjusting journal entries, reviewing the general ledger monthly, and ensuring reconciliations comply with Law Society regulations. You will also monitor and manage cash flow, address financial enquiries, and complete various annual and quarterly financial reports.
Additionally, you will supervise accounts payable processes, manage wire transfers, and confirm all expenses are entered before month close. Office administration duties will involve liaising with the landlord, ensuring office equipment is operational, and maintaining asset inventory.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting within a law firm environment, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Flexibility to respond to urgent trust or wire transfers when not in the office is required. The company takes pride in delivering high-quality legal services that compare with larger firms.
