Job Title: Accounting Manager

Our client located in Scarborough, ON is looking for an Accounting Manager to join their amazing team!!


Overview:

The Accounting Manager will be part of a fast-growing Accounting and Finance team, with opportunities to collaborate across different departments


Key Responsibilities:


  • Use accounting software to prepare and record entries for assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Monitor inventory and Cost of Goods Sold status on a monthly basis.
  • Generate monthly inventory control reports, including inventory valuation, counts, Bill of Materials, Work-in-Progress (WIP) analysis.
  • Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling bank transactions, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Produce accurate accounting reports and present the results.
  • Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing trial balances, and reconciling entries.
  • Summarize financial status by collecting data and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  • Protect the organization’s value by maintaining confidentiality.
  • Enter monthly adjusting journal entries.
  • Handle accounting for intercompany transactions.
  • Manage GST/HST, WSIB, and EHT reporting.
  • Maintain an effective filing system.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.


Knowledge and Skills:


  • Thorough understanding of basic accounting procedures and GAAP.
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, including pivot tables.
  • High attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Strong numerical and quantitative aptitude.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced and evolving environment.


Education/Experience:


  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 1 year in manufacturing.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with inventory management systems and online accounting software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or progress toward it is an asset.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Previous experience supporting ERP implementation is a plus.
