Teck was honoured to contribute to the Paul Myers Tower at Lions Gate Hospital, helping to install antimicrobial copper surfaces throughout the high-tech acute-care facility including on door handles, push plates and grab bars as one of the many infection control measures to keep everyone safe. Nicole Tapia, Lead, Social Performance, and Carleigh Whitman, Acting Head, Social Performance and Indigenous Relations, were at the tower’s opening to unveil an educational wall to highlight copper’s unique properties, which can eliminate up to 99.9% of harmful bacteria and helps protect patients, visitors and healthcare workers.

This timely initiative explores how First Nations Elders are using traditional teachings to fuel the success of the next generation of leadership. With support from Teck, the pilot episode is complete and we had a screening for our employees, sparking meaningful discussions on First Nations history and values in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. https://ow.ly/2NJK50VtuAT
