    For some individuals, traditional job application procedures may not always be the most effective. Psychometric tests, pattern recognition games, and timed written assessments have posed challenges for many, myself included.     Got a little proof-of-concept for interview translations working! Not gonna lie, I'm partially posting this to flex my super-beginner Hindi skills 🇮🇳 🐦⬛ ... please, don't ask me anything more complex than what my favorite animal is! (the pika is up there with rabbits and cats, but I don't know how to say those words yet so... thanks for teaching me how to say pigeon, Duolingo)

    Imagine interviewing people in whatever language THEY prefer? Depending on the role, this might be the perfect option to offer your job candidates! In a country like Canada, this would be an incredible statement of inclusiveness in the hiring process. Also, great for validating bilingual candidates language abilities. #languageinclusion

    I started looking into building a translation layer for candidate interviews today, and it's amazing how we almost have the technology to perfectly stream real time voice data WITH translations! Homo Sapiens popped up around 200k years ago, and this is only possible in the last decade or so. So for 99.995% of human history, language barriers have prevent people from communicating (unless you're willing to put in a months/years of work to learn their language). And in the near future, we'll probably start seeing remote companies that use real time translation and lip-resync in video calls/meetings so everyone can speak the language they're most comfortable with. Fucking awesome!

    February 2024 vs November 2024. We managed to strip down the candidate interview experience to a single interactive UI element - "The Button"! Depending on the interview state it will perform different actions - for example, "Start Recording", "Finish Recording", or animating to bring the AI responses to life Except for form inputs / file uploads / multiselect questions during interviews, candidates will only interact with a single button now. And we're still working on simplifying it more to guide candidates to present their best selves. In an ideal world, we would only need 0 buttons :) The UX journey has been fascinating. Having candidates volunteer to let us watch them use our product gave awesome insights into how they naturally expect things to work. Sometimes they would explicitly tell us, but a lot of the time we noticed behavioral patterns indicating our old UX was trash #ux
