I talk about continuous improvement and organizational excellence to help small business owners create a workplace culture of profitability and growth.

The 8 wastes of Lean. Master them or waste your day. If you missed any part of this series, here’s a recap. Save this post for later. Waste steals your time and cash. But most teams learn this too late. Here’s why you must cut waste now: ↳ Boosts flow ↳ Lowers costs ↳ Lifts morale ↳ Speeds delivery ↳ Sharpens focus ↳ Wins trust Over the past weeks, I’ve shared 8 posts on how to reduce each of the 8 wastes of Lean. Now here’s a recap: --- Stop Defects: Build It Right the First Time. Link: https://lnkd.in/eFmDZ2Uc --- Overproduction: Make Only What's Needed. Link: https://lnkd.in/eN_FQNda --- Waiting: Keep Work Flowing Smoothly. Link: https://lnkd.in/e9nNBtJt --- Non-Utilized Talent: Unlock Potential. Use All Skills. • Voice of Customer vs Process https://lnkd.in/gCZraj8E Is your process truly meeting customer expectations—or just appearing to? Let’s break it down with Cp vs Cpk: 📏 Cp measures only the process spread. It assumes your process is centered. Great for checking potential capability—but it doesn’t tell the full story. 📍 Cpk steps in when real-world alignment matters. It looks at both spread and centering. A process can have a great Cp but still fail on Cpk if it's drifting toward a spec limit. 🎡 Voice of Customer (VoC) sets the spec limits—your USL and LSL. Cp and Cpk show how your Voice of Process fits within that space. 📉 If Cp < 1 → your process is too wide. 📉 If Cpk < 1 → your process isn’t centered or too wide—or both. ✅ Target: Cpk ≥ 1.33 for stable, capable processes. 👌 Pro tip: High Cp but low Cpk? Time to recentralize your process. Low Cp and Cpk? Time to reduce variation and re-center. #LearnFast #SixSigma #ProcessCapability #LeanManufacturing #ContinuousImprovement #QualityEngineering #CpCpk #VoiceOfCustomer #OperationalExcellence Source: Vinay Dahiya Follow our new WhatsApp channel where you can download hi-res pdfs, templates and other content that is not shared on this page 👉 https://zbk.li/learnfast

  • Clean. Safe. Standardized. https://lnkd.in/gWXz2PSh 6S is not just about cleanliness — it's about discipline, flow, and performance. This 6S Audit scored an impressive 96%, but what does that really tell us? 🔍 1S - SORT: Are we only keeping what adds value? Anything unnecessary is a barrier to flow. 📦 2S - SET: If you can’t find it in 30 seconds, it’s not set. Labeling and location clarity are non-negotiable. 🧼 3S - SHINE: Clean is not cosmetic — it's preventive maintenance. Shine reflects control. 🔁 4S - STANDARDIZE: Sustaining clarity means setting behavioral expectations and visual cues. Audit results must be actionable. 🌱 5S - SUSTAIN: Is improvement a one-time event or a way of life? Without team ownership, 5S fades fast. 🦺 6S - SAFETY: A well-organized and clean workplace is a safer workplace. PPE is just the baseline — risk elimination is the goal. ✅ Each 'Yes' is a step toward zero waste, zero accidents, and zero excuses. • Spot the 8 Wastes Faster https://lnkd.in/gJTB6ZzT Why do problems keep repeating? Often, it’s because we focus on symptoms, not systemic waste. The 8 Wastes of Lean aren’t just for manufacturing—they silently eat away at productivity in every industry. Let’s break them down with real-world clues: 🟢 Defects = Incomplete or inaccurate work (wrong milk in a coffee order ☕️) 🟠 Overproduction = Unused reports, unnecessary emails 🟡 Waiting = Approvals, equipment, people 🔵 Non-Utilized Talent = Skilled people doing routine tasks 🟣 Transportation = Redundant hand-offs or chasing files 🟤 Inventory = Unused documents, old data ⚫️ Motion = Repetitive clicks, app-switching ⚪️ Extra-Processing = Too much formatting, unnecessary reports The moment you start labeling these wastes, your team begins seeing opportunities, not just problems. 🧠 Pro tip: Don’t just “fill in the form.” Use this check sheet to engage your team, capture low-hanging fruit, and eliminate what doesn’t serve the customer. #Lean #ContinuousImprovement #WasteHunting #OperationalExcellence #Kaizen #LeanThinking #Productivity #Efficiency #ProblemSolving #LearnFast Follow our new WhatsApp channel, where you can download hi-res pdfs, templates and other content that is not shared on this page: https://zbk.li/learnfast

  • Build a Strategy That Executes https://lnkd.in/gfREXUyt Developing a strategic plan isn’t just about lofty goals — it’s about execution through structure, alignment, and iteration. 🧭 Start with a clear vision rooted in your core values. Use system thinking to see the big picture and long-term impact. 🔍 Conduct a solid SWOT analysis. Identify your 20% that drives 80% of the results — and build focus around them. 🎯 Set ambitious yet measurable OKRs. Push boundaries, but make them trackable. 💡 Don’t forget the hidden cost — evaluate opportunity costs for every decision made. 📅 Build a tactical plan that’s flexible. Sunk costs? Don’t let them trap you. Use Gantt charts to stay aligned and agile. 📊 Monitor with meaningful KPIs. Set tight feedback loops and act fast on what the data reveals. 📈 Wrap it all with a Balanced Scorecard. Track growth, culture, loyalty, and process health — not just financials. Strategy without adaptation is just a dream. • Who Does What in APQP? https://lnkd.in/gHmK4MuK Why do APQP initiatives fail? Often, it's not the tools—it’s the roles. This visual framework shows how cross-functional teams align in the APQP process using a RACI-style approach. It clearly outlines where primary responsibilities lie, and where support is needed—from RFQ to handover. ✅ Marketing drives early-phase clarity ✅ D&D leads DFMEA, design reviews, and flow charts ✅ Production validates processes and runs trials ✅ QA ensures FMEA, MSA, SPC, and sign-off ✅ Everyone plays a role in feedback loops and continuous learning 📌 Key benefits of this roles framework: 🔹 Accountability is visible 🔹 Handoffs are seamless 🔹 No ambiguity in ownership 🔹 Prevents critical tasks from falling through the cracks This isn’t just for APQP—it’s a mindset for structured collaboration. If you're struggling with unclear roles during development, this is your blueprint. #APQP #ProductDevelopment #RACI #CrossFunctionalTeams #ManufacturingExcellence #LeanProductDesign #QualityManagement #OperationalExcellence #LearnFast Source: Govind Tiwari,PhD 📲 Follow our new WhatsApp channel to download hi-res PDFs, templates, and other content not shared on this page: https://zbk.li/learnfast
