Earlier this week, we welcomed Michelle McConwell from Invest Alberta to our Fero facility. Building strong inter-provincial collaboration is a priority, as we know that we can leverage each others strengths and benefit from the infrastructure growth taking place across Canada. It was great to discuss strategies to continue connecting. We are looking forward to our reciprocal visit in July with Sabrina Fiorellino!

Very big news for Fero! We’re thrilled to share that a modular outpatient clinic project Fero designed and constructed has won the 2025 Award of Distinction in the Relocatable Healthcare category from the Modular Building Institute! Not only did it receive this award, chosen by an independent panel of industry experts, but it also received the ‘Relocatable Best in Show’, awarded based on the voting done by the World of Modular attendees during the conference last week.     This project was all about pushing the boundaries of what's possible in healthcare design, using modular methods to bring high-performance, relocatable clinic space to Manitoba faster, smarter, and with a patient-first mindset.    Developed in partnership with Stantec, the clinic includes:   ➡️ 5,200 sq. ft. of space from 7 modules  ➡️ A hybrid steel + wood frame system  ➡️ Custom-finished interiors designed to promote patient well-being  ➡️ Easy transportability and full disassembly for future reuse    This project featured fast delivery and minimal site disruption, but it was also built to last — and move — with quality materials, cleanable finishes, and energy efficiency at the core.    Thank you to MBI for this prestigious honor, to our colleagues in modular construction for your votes at the World of Modular, and to everyone who helped bring this project to life.  #ModularConstruction #WOM25 #WorldOfModular #WOM2025 #RelocatableHealthcare #HealthcareConstruction #HealthcareInfrastructure #ModularHealthcare Alex Scopacasa Sabrina Fiorellino Laurie Robert David Dewar John Buongiorno

"Factory-built housing is a 'Made-in-Ontario' solution for rapid construction." The new Ontario Real Estate Association report titled "Building More, Building Faster", advocates for key changes to boost factory-built housing and address the housing supply and affordability crisis in this province. As we well know here at Fero, the benefits to municipalities embracing offsite construction are many: "Embracing off-site construction technologies can benefit municipalities, including a reduction in the administrative burden and community impacts of construction. Because factory-built homes can be made so much faster than traditional homes, municipalities will receive property taxes quicker, which can be used to support critical infrastructure. Construction may also experience less delays as building can occur in-factory during the winter months, and municipalities may receive less construction-related noise complaints, since less construction time is spent working onsite." We are glad to see the OREA's efforts to scale the housing construction industry and we hope to see these policy recommendations implemented across the province. The link below has the full report.
