Thank you, Michael Eisenstein at Nature Magazine, for diving into the latest breakthrough in biology, AI foundation models. At Deep Genomics, we are finding new ways of accelerating discoveries in drug development and biotechnology leveraging the vast datasets of genetic, molecular, and cellular data these AI models can process. Not only does this innovation reshape how we approach complex challenges like disease diagnosis, it also sets the groundwork for personalized medicine and in turn, creates better patient outcomes. Brendan Frey was happy to contribute his expertise to the piece. A few of his thoughts below: “'A year and a half ago in our pitch, we would proudly talk about how we had 40 different machine learning models,' says Brendan Frey, founder and chief innovation officer of RNA drug discovery company Deep Genomics. Maintaining, scaling and integrating disparate models for predicting distinct yet intersecting biological processes such as RNA transcription, splicing or polyadenylation proved too challenging, however. As a solution, the company developed BigRNA, a foundation model that can make robust predictions about all these aspects of RNA biology — and more." "As more researchers begin to tinker with the models, Frey envisions opportunities ranging from accelerated discovery of new drugs for ultra-rare diseases to ‘multimodal’ models that integrate data from DNA, RNA, and protein to produce a more holistic perspective on the cellular interior. 'Eventually, I would hope we’ll start peeling back the cover on systems biology.'” To read more, check out the full article here 👉https://lnkd.in/eNv6nfPY #techbio #biology #DrugDiscovery #AIinnovation
About us
Deep Genomics is using artificial intelligence to build a new universe of life-saving genetic therapies. The future of medicine will rely on artificial intelligence, because biology is too complex for humans to understand. At Deep Genomics, our geneticists, molecular biologists and chemists develop new ways of detecting and treating disease using our biologically accurate artificial intelligence technology.

On World Health Day, we are reminded why innovation in drug discovery matters. This year’s theme, "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures," encourages efforts to prioritize newborn and women’s health 🤱 At Deep Genomics, we are committed not only to using AI to accelerate drug discovery but also to advancing the development of life-changing therapies. By making drug development smarter, faster, and more precise, we are working toward a future where more people receive the treatments they need when they need them. Innovation is shaping the future of medicine, and we’re proud to be part of this movement 💊 #WorldHealthDay #AIforGood #DrugDiscovery

It’s been a busy start to the year at Deep Genomics! Our team has already attended four events, and there are many more to come. Here’s a quick recap of where we’ve been so far: 🏥 The 43rd Annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco 🧬 The 2025 Front Line Genomics Festival of Genomics and Biodata in London, UK 🖥️ The March Edition of MicroSummits: AI in Drug Discovery hosted virtually 💊 The 2025 D2R | DNA to RNA Research Symposium in Montreal, Quebec Any guesses on where the team is headed next? (We may have spoiled it yesterday!) 🌎 #DrugDiscovery #Conferences #LifeatDeepGenomics

Welcome to another instalment of our #CoreValues series! Today, we are deep diving into the C in our ACES – Collaborate Seamlessly 🤝 For us, this means not only working together to achieve common goals, but also taking the time to understand each other’s work so we can connect the dots across the organization. Everyone brings a unique skill set to the table and it’s important we recognize and celebrate these strengths when we come together as a team. Collaborating seamlessly also reminds us to ask for help when we need it. Jumping in and supporting one another is how we win 🎯 These #CoreValues guide our work every day so stay tuned for more of this series in the coming weeks! #LifeAtDeepGenomics #Team #Collaboration #Innovation
