The OMFPOA is excited to present Melinda Amador of CodeNext at the upcoming OMFPOA Symposium in Richmond Hill! Specializing in hazardous materials and Fire Code compliance, Melinda Amador works with building operators and designers to find compliant solutions for the storage and use of dangerous goods in industrial settings. In looking to address Fire Code compliance issues, building operators may resort to moving hazardous goods from within their facility and into a stand-alone structure, such as a sea-can. However, what may seem to be a good short term solution can in fact create new hazards. Melinda Amador will explore the requirements of the Ontario Fire Code and National Fire Code of Canada for storage of commodities and dangerous goods in these types of structures and also evaluate when they are regulated as 'buildings' under the Ontario Building Code.
