🚧 Project Announcement – Highway 16 Bridge Replacement 🚧 Carmacks is proud to share our newest infrastructure project in partnership with Alberta Transportation, located in the North Central Region. This significant initiative involves the replacement of two, three-span bridge structures along Highway 16 (Yellowhead) over the Highway 43 Interchange, a key corridor for both commercial and community traffic. Work is now underway, with our dedicated teams actively advancing the first phase of detour crossover installation. The $15.8 M project includes full superstructure demolition, deep foundation removals, substructure reconstruction, and the installation of new 55-metre, three-span superstructures with structural steel girders. This project represents another step forward in our continued commitment to delivering safe, durable, and sustainable infrastructure that supports Alberta's growing transportation network. Carmacks is thrilled to announce that we have been named the recipient of Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors' 2025 Partnering Award for the West Calgary Ring Road DB2 project. The project team, including Associated Engineering with Tetra Tech (Owner's Engineer) and Calgary Safelink Partners (Contractors - Carmacks, VINCI Infrastructure Canada, and Graham Construction) with Hatch / CIMA+ (Design Lead), collaborated to address significant challenges and achieve critical milestones.🎯 Key collaboration wins included: 🌿Environmental Challenges: Severe rain and dust were mitigated with robust stormwater systems and extensive dust suppression measures. Continuous communication with the public and close regulatory collaboration helped maintain public trust and expedite approvals. 🏗️Constructing Bridges with Complex Construction Staging Challenges: The Project team worked to manage traffic, address geotechnical complexities, and seamlessly integrate the project's  three-level systems interchange with the existing infrastructure. 💫Community Engagement/Stakeholder Management: Effective stakeholder engagement, including monthly newsletters and ongoing communication, proactively addressed the public’s questions and concerns, fostering transparency and collaboration with all parties. In addition to working closely with our key design and construction partners on this incredible project, this award also highlights the importance of harnessing internal synergies within our own organization at Carmacks and the remarkable impact that this has had on the success of the West Calgary Ring Road DB2 project.
