The CSPA is pleased to see the Doug Ford Ontario government join Saskatchewan and Manitoba in the club of governments that commit to building with Canadian steel. We welcome the growing support of provincial governments across Canada who are supporting Canadian steel producers. #CanadianSteel

Protecting Canadian steel starts at our border, and the best way to do that is with enhanced funding to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Canadian steel currently competes with unfair trade practices and state-sponsored global overcapacity that disrupts our domestic market. Canadian steel producers are seeking a commitment for adequate resources for the CBSA to ensure their ability to monitor, investigate and enforce trade measures. This will ensure that CBSA has the tools, both human and financial, to secure our borders against the unfair trading practices that hurt Canadian steel and other critical commodities. Increased resources to the CBSA include a guarantee of permanent funding to the recently established MarketWatch Unit, so that Canadian border officers can continue to streamline the process surrounding the effectiveness of trade measures. Taken together, these actions can protect against the unfair trade practices in Canada that are disrupting Canadian steel and putting our domestic industry at risk. #cdnpoli #CanadianSteel

Canadian steel is the foundation to communities across Canada, and our high-quality products are ready and waiting to build our country. To protect the integrity of Canada’s steel market and the manufacturing sector using steel products, Canada must take meaningful action against unfair traders, such as imposing 25% tariffs on all steel products melted & poured in China and sanctioned countries. This will protect our domestic industry from unfair actors in other countries while stopping Chinese-state led actions that create overcapacity in steel markets in Canada and around the world. Governments across Canada must prioritize the use of Canadian steel for all publicly funded infrastructure projects. We need Canadian steel used in every possible project, as we can support our domestic industry to weather the tariff storm, keeping our dollars here in Canada while using Canadian steel you can trust.
