#DenysEnergies • We've been busy working along the R4 over the past few months, rerouting the spider web of existing utility and telecom cables, ducts and pipes. This rerouting is part of the R4WO project, the conversion of R4 West and East in Evergem, Ghent and Wachtebeke. In one move, we laid DN160 to DN500 steel and PE water pipes, medium- and high-voltage cables and telecom cables in a narrow strip. To cross the R4, the team used an auger boring, sliding a DN300 water pipe through the pressed DN900 concrete pipe. Secondary, a moat was crossed thanks to a built-in steel culvert. #DenysTunnelling • This week, Denys began a test drilling with one of our brand-new fully electric HK45 HDD drilling rigs, and it exceeded expectations 🙌 The environmental benefits of fully electric drilling rigs are undeniable. Unlike traditional drilling rigs that rely on fossil fuels, these rigs operate silently and purely on electricity, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. This investment is a significant milestone for Denys, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability, aiming to be CO2-neutral by 2045. We are therefore proud to be the first company in Belgium owning such advanced 100% electric drilling equipment. The drilling rigs provide a major added value in executing infrastructure projects essential for Europe's energy transition goals. Once testing is finished, they will be deployed on major projects in Germany, commissioned by TransnetBW GmbH, 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, and TenneT Germany. #DenysTunnelling • Today, the project teams in Madrid achieved a significant milestone. Lady Madrid, our Tunnel Boring Machine, successfully completed 2,500 meters of mining and reached the first intermediate shaft, Las Viñas. From here, the future floodwater of Arroyo Las Viñas will flow into the tunnel, playing a crucial role in preventing flooding in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Comunidad de Madrid. But the journey isn't over yet! #DenysCivilWorks • The weather gods were kind to our team at project Verapaz Bridge last week: the second bridge, Bridge South, could be poured successfully. But don't be fooled, although good weather was a necessity, it is because of some brilliant teamwork that about 1,240 m³ of concrete could successfully be poured in only 3 days. After months of meticulous preparation, our Do-Dreamers worked around the clock to get the job done. Hard hats off to them! With the Verapaz bridge, the Ghent city ring road (R40) will be shifted to the Afrikalaan and the Koopvaardijlaan. Traffic flows will change in the north of the city and increase livability in the Muide, Meulestede and Dampoort neighborhoods. Coming in at 45 tonnes, holding a 1,000 litres pump and 3½" IF 6 metres rods, our Herrenknecht AG rig is here to make a difference. As the first Belgian company to own and operate flexible and compact HHD rigs of this type, we can now undertake HDD projects with zero-emission drilling, supporting our shift towards more sustainable operations. The rig will be tested at Denys HQ in the coming weeks, and will then premier on various cable-laying projects for TenneT Germany.
