Ne laissons pas la lumière s’éteindre : la Mosa Ballet School est menacée de fermeture suite à la suppression brutale de son financement public. En seulement trois ans, ce projet s’est imposé comme pôle culturel, économique et social, et de rayonnement international. La Mosa forme des jeunes talents de 9 à 20 ans venus des quatre coins du monde. Elle porte aussi Quand on Danse, son programme sociétal et thérapeutique qui fait danser chaque année plus de 4.300 personnes fragilisées. L’école crée de l’emploi, attire familles, artistes et mécènes, et génère pour les caisses de la Wallonie 12 millions d’euros de retombées économiques par an. La Mosa a accueilli une cinquantaine d’enfants de La Ribambelle, le service d'accueil extrascolaire de la Commune de Chaudfontaine, pour une après-midi découverte. Au programme : un cours d’initiation à la danse, une visite du bâtiment, l’observation d’un cours de nos grands élèves, et même une session de questions/réponses avec nos danseurs.   L’excitation de leur arrivée a rapidement laissé place à la fascination. Notre rayonnement commence d’abord par un dialogue avec notre belle Métropole : inspirer la jeunesse, éveiller la curiosité et nourrir les esprits. This Monday, we had the honor and pleasure of welcoming Marie-Claude Pietragalla to Mosa, Danseuse Étoile of the Opera National de Paris, former director of the Ballet national de Marseille, and choreographer. Passing through Liège for her one-woman show 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘢, she took the time to visit our school and to exchange with our artistic director, Olivier Patey, and our founder, Benjamine de Cloedt. Our Guest Teacher - Christine Camillo At the end of January, we had the pleasure of welcoming Christine Camillo as a guest teacher to lead Ballet, Pointe, and Repertoire classes for our 5th, 6th, and 7th-year students. Originally from Toulouse, Christine Camillo won first prize at the prestigious Lausanne International Competition at the age of 15. She joined the Scottish Ballet in 1982, and her rapid rise led to her being named Principal Dancer in 1984, at just 19 years old. From 1986 to 1990, she danced with the English National Ballet under the direction of Peter Schaufuss. There, she performed major roles from the classical repertoire, earning her recognition as the "Revelation of the Year" by the renowned New York Times. In 1990, she was appointed Principal Dancer at the Berlin Opera, where she had the opportunity to work with great choreographers such as Béjart, Forsythe, and Kylián. She retired from the stage in 2004 to become Ballet Mistress at the Staatsballett Berlin. Want to be part of the Mosa adventure? Quand on Danse: Mosa students immersed with Institut Rafaël Our students had the honor of participating in an activity related to the Cultural Health Department of the Institut Rafaël Santé Intégrative, in collaboration with the Château de Versailles. As part of our social program, Quand on Danse, they shared a unique moment with former patients, illustrating the power of movement in the healing process. This meaningful encounter was made possible thanks to the dedication of Sheherazade BOYER-TAMI, Manon Verdier, and sabine FRECH, who passionately advocate for dance therapy within Institut Rafaël. We also take this opportunity to thank Laura Dethier, director of Quand on Danse, as well as Coralie Schmetz and Clara Habib, for their commitment to building bridges between dance and social impact. Our frequent Guest Teacher – Anne-Laure Arnoux A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming Anne-Laure Arnoux as a Guest Teacher! She taught ballet classes to our Level 6 and 7 students. Anne-Laure is a returning guest teacher at Mosa, working with our oldest students in Levels 6 and 7 several times throughout the season. Based in London, she works internationally as a guest teacher and coach. Her focus is on technical purity and style while nurturing individuality and artistry. She was a pupil of Raymond Franchetti, Gilbert Mayer, and Christiane Vaussard. They passed on what they had learned from the great ballet masters Ricaux and Zambelli, who are recognized today as shaping the blueprint of the French school. Anne-Laure’s passion is to pass on this heritage, complemented by the experiences she later gained from other traditions, companies, and styles. Want to join the Mosa adventure? Introducing our Winter Intensive guest teachers. Today we introduce Henrik Burman who will be teaching Athlete Skills for Dancers, Role Play (acting for dancers),  during our Winter Intensive Course. He graduated from the Royal Swedish Ballet School in 1986 and has performed as a dancer with the Royal Swedish Ballet and as a soloist dancer with the Finnish National Ballet. Henrik has extensive teaching experience, including positions at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet School, Somatic Studio, Tanssille ry, Helsinki Figure Skating Club, Helsinki Ballet Academy, the Helsinki International Ballet Competition, and the Kuopio Dance Festival. In spring 2017, Henrik earned his International Professional Teacher qualification from Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK).
