VSME reporting is about to matter a whole lot more, especially if your company has 251–1000 employees. The European Commission is expected to recommend the EFRAG VSME standard by June. But depending on #Omnibus negotiations, it may be reworked into a VSME v2 for larger companies in 2026, and eventually adopted as a delegated act. ➡️ New tools are coming (Excel template, XBRL converter) ➡️ Support guides in the works (C2, C3, C7 disclosures) ➡️ Outreach and training are scaling up fast At Karomia, we support a #VSME that works for larger organizations. We see the Double Materiality Assessment (#DMA) as key for setting scope, and welcome industry-led initiatives that build on the standard. 📖 Read our blog for the full breakdown: https://bit.ly/3Y1BuCF

VSME vs. ESRS - What’s the difference, and which one should you care about? If you’re navigating EU sustainability reporting, you’ve probably come across two acronyms: ESRS and VSME. Here’s the breakdown: 🔍 ESRS Mandatory. Granular. Designed for large and listed companies under the #CSRD. Think climate transition plans, biodiversity metrics, and detailed governance disclosures - the full package. 📄 VSME Voluntary. Streamlined. Built for SMEs that want to report ESG data without the full compliance burden. It’s proportional, focused, and becoming the go-to format for companies under 1,000 employees, especially after the #Omnibus regulation endorsed it as the preferred path. Bottom line? #ESRS is the deep dive. #VSME is the smart starting point. If you’re working at an SME and wondering how to tackle ESG reporting without the overwhelm, our VSME guide has everything you need: https://bit.ly/427XnTi

What are mid-sized companies really doing after the #Omnibus proposal? When the #CSRD scope changed, over 50 mid-sized companies we spoke with found themselves off the hook. But did they ditch ESG altogether? We saw 4 distinct response types emerge: 💡 The Champions (45%) They’re going beyond compliance, continuing with their double materiality assessment (#DMA) and aligning with #ESRS. Even without an audit requirement, they’re building ESG data capabilities today to future-proof tomorrow. ⚖️ The Pragmatists (25%) They want strategic insight without the reporting burden. So they use the #VSME standard, sometimes blending in high-priority ESRS topics to meet stakeholder needs with precision. 📉 The Minimalists (20%) Driven by external pressure (banks, clients), they adopt VSME reporting to tick the box and avoid risk, with minimal internal investment. 🕒 The Inactives (10%) They’re waiting for more clarity. But that window is closing fast, as data expectations from banks and customers are already aligned with VSME. Whether you’re a Champion or just starting out, one thing is clear: Sustainability data is becoming a business language. And the companies learning to speak it now will be the ones heard tomorrow.
