🚢 A milestone for sustainable shipping in Greece! ♻️ The first marine fuel delivery with #biofuels is now a reality — thanks to Motor Oil refinery, Coral Marine and our member Verd S.A., a Motor Oil subsidiary that produced the biodiesel component from recycled used cooking oils in #Greece. The Celestyal Discovery cruise ship became the first vessel in Greece to receive a blend of marine fuel and waste-derived #biodiesel, cutting CO₂ emissions by approx. 21%. 💡 Why is this significant? 🌍 It’s a second-generation, domestically produced waste-based fuel that does not compete with food production. ✅ The blend meets the new ISO 8217:2024 standards for performance and safety. 🚀 It supports the IMO’s CO₂ reduction goals for maritime transport and the #FuelEU GHG intensity reduction targets.
