🔴 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗨.𝗦. 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗳𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 In the context of the Strategic Dialogue on the future of the automotive industry, automotive suppliers, including representatives from Bosch, Valeo, and CLEPA, emphasised the urgent need for a balanced and forward-looking transatlantic trade relationship during a high-level meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. With €13.9 billion in EU exports to the U.S. at stake and up to 125,000 jobs on the line, the impact could be profound. Automotive suppliers face a double hit: reduced vehicle exports and further tariffs on car parts expected in May. The priority must be a negotiated solution with the U.S. Retaliation risks harming vital imports—like specialised plastics, semiconductors inputs, and high-grade steel—that are hard to substitute and critical to EU industry. 🎯 We can’t control global trade policy. But we can shape our own response. It’s time to act on what’s within reach: ✅ Maintain the Utility Factor for PHEVs—high EU value-add that can immediately protect jobs. ✅ Adapt CO₂ regulation to reflect market realities and support all low-carbon technologies. ✅ Cut red tape with the Simplification Omnibus approach. ✅ Accelerate trade deals with Mercosur and Mexico to strengthen Europe’s global position. This isn’t about protectionism—it’s about building resilience and safeguarding our strategic industrial capabilities in an unpredictable world. 📰 Read here our PRESS RELEASE: https://lnkd.in/emzPGPV2

🍃 How is the automotive supply industry cutting emissions? Decarbonisation starts with renewable energy! Yet, achieving progress depends on the availability of renewable sources, nuclear energy, and carbon-neutral fuels, which vary by region and operation. A great example of this in action comes from Schaeffler: Frank Bauer shares how they generate their own electricity from renewable sources. At their campus in Erlangen, they installed two rooftop photovoltaic systems that generate enough electricity to power 280 homes. But the journey to climate neutrality is about more than just individual efforts. It requires a European-wide strategy that adapts to regional challenges and accelerates progress in key areas: ✅ Scale up industrial renewable energy production and form partnerships for competitive hydrogen production ✅ Accelerate wind and solar park deployment for sufficient, affordable renewable energy, strengthen grid capacity and accelerate deployment of interconnectors #TheRoadAhead - Discover more here: https://lnkd.in/dafSkq5k

🌱 👩🏭 The road to sustainability is led by people and driven by purpose. Transformation goes beyond what we create, it’s about making sure everyone has a seat on the journey. Automotive suppliers invest in local communities, support re-skilling programmes, and collaborate with public institutions to foster a fair, inclusive, and future-ready transition. One such example is Teknia’s work. Jorge Lazaro Martinez provides insights into their education programmes in other countries and how they are supporting young people to gain the skills for tomorrow’s jobs. While suppliers’ accomplishments drive meaningful progress, further policy action is essential: ✅ Foster closer partnerships between automotive companies and educational institutions to develop industry-relevant programmes, and internship opportunities ✅ Implement measures to promote diversity and gender balance to ensure a just transition ✅ Involve affected communities in decision-making processes to build strong relationships, foster trust, and ensure local voices are heard. 🤝 On #TheRoadAhead, sustainability and inclusivity go hand in hand. 🚘 The U.S. tariffs on imported vehicles and auto parts are placing a significant strain on Europe’s automotive supply chain. Companies face mounting pressure to relocate production, absorb increased costs, or risk losing access to key markets. This threatens long-standing investments, jobs, and competitiveness across the EU. We urgently need a coordinated response that includes: ✅ A united EU stance to safeguard strategic autonomy ✅ Support for innovation and manufacturing resilience by cutting red tape, reducing energy costs, and stimulating local demand With global supply chains under pressure, the time for smart, strategic action is now. 🚨 US tariffs threaten EU automotive suppliers – A call for unity 🚨 The recent tariff measures imposed by the US, including a 25% levy on imported European cars, pose a significant challenge to automotive suppliers and transatlantic trade relations. CLEPA strongly opposes these actions, which risk disrupting supply chains, increasing costs, and straining economic ties between the EU and the US. In addition to the tariffs on steel and aluminium taking effect today, further tariffs on automotive parts are expected on 3 May 2025. The potential ripple effect of these measures could severely impact EU suppliers, particularly if retaliatory actions on US-sourced products come into play. With EU trade ministers set to meet on 6 April, a decision on countermeasures could come next week. 📢CLEPA urges European institutions to respond with unity and determination to protect the EU’s economy and ensure fair trade. Now is the time for collaboration and decisive action. 📰 Read our PRESS RELEASE here: https://lnkd.in/eref5esN
