The Europe we want is for all ages!

About us

AGE Platform Europe is the largest network of older people in Europe. With more than 100 member organisations of/for older people, we work in the interest of the 200 million older adults of today… and those of tomorrow. AGE work focuses on a wide range of policy areas that impact on older and retired people. These include issues of anti-discrimination, employment of older workers and active ageing, social protection, pension reforms, social inclusion, health, research, accessibility of public transport and of the build environment, and ICT. The Platform takes also active part in several EU projects. The majority of these projects are funded by the 7th Framework Programme. The purpose of AGE's work is to voice and promote the interests of the 150 million inhabitants aged 50+ in the European Union and to raise awareness of the issues that concern them most. AGE aims to give a voice to older and retired people in the EU policy debates through the active participation of their representative organisations at EU, national, regional and local levels so as to inform EU policy development.

  • 🚨 Don't Let Age Equality Be Erased! 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻 & 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻✊👵👴 The European Commission is preparing to withdraw one of the EU’s most important – yet still unrealised – anti-discrimination proposals: the 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. If this happens, millions of Europeans – including older people – risk being left without the protections they deserve. 📢 Take action now! 🖊️ Sign the petition: https://lnkd.in/dsepN9FX 📣 Learn why this matters for older people: https://bit.ly/42FEY04 ✅ Sign it. • UN Convention Explained: 4 Key Questions Answered
  • Today, AGE addressed its recommendations for 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 to the Working Party meeting of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO). This discussion took place in the framework of the 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆'𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 ‘𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀’ with the participation of Maciej J. Kucharczyk (AGE Secretary General) and Sarah Loriato (AGE Policy Officer on Employment and Social Inclusion).   AGE welcomes this initiative of Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union, which is in line with the future European strategy for intergenerational fairness. Our main message was that while the increase in life expectancy is the success of the European social model, it also requires national and European policies to strengthen age equality throughout life by modernising care, strengthening health prevention and adapting workplaces to the needs of an ageing population.   Finally, we shared the findings from 𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯, which identifies ageism, the lack of labour market support, and non-adapted workplaces as the main barriers preventing older workers from staying or returning to employment. Further work on employment and ageing will follow in the 2025 edition of AGE Barometer, which will examine the 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀. 👉Find out more about AGE Barometer: bit.ly/age-barometer-2023 #AGEBarometer #EuropeforAllAges #AgeEquality #OlderWorkers
