What's the Role:


You are responsible for the overall operations of the Mt Thorley site, ensuring that production meets stringent customer quality specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner. You will oversee production schedules, quality control, supplier coordination, and equipment maintenance while ensuring all work aligns with Bradken’s safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. You lead the team to optimise operational efficiency, drive best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.


You build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and customers, working closely with Sales and Product Development to enhance product designs and expand the customer base. You ensure cost accuracy, align delivery expectations with sales, and manage third-party suppliers to meet production goals. You provide regular reporting on resource utilisation, efficiency metrics, and project milestones, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring financial and operational targets are met.


You drive innovation and process improvements by identifying opportunities to enhance production methods, incorporate new technologies, and engage employees in problem-solving initiatives. You champion efficiency improvements, ensuring that shop-floor operators and key stakeholders contribute to the development of better work practices. You manage preventive maintenance plans to optimise equipment performance, minimise downtime, and ensure long-term reliability of assets.


You work closely with customers to strengthen relationships, manage expectations, and resolve concerns effectively. You collaborate with internal teams to integrate customer feedback into production improvements and innovation efforts. You ensure all activities align with Bradken’s policies and procedures, maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence and business growth.

This role is based in Mt.Thorley


Key Technical Criteria:


  • Tertiary qualifications in Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline are desirable.
  • Engineering Trade qualification is preferred.
  • Proven management experience within a heavy manufacturing/engineering environment is highly advantageous.
  • Strong commercial acumen and in-depth knowledge of production and manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Understanding of sales processes and systems, with the ability to align production and customer needs effectively.
