Project Spotlight ✨ Valley Hydramulch & Revegetation were tasked with coming up with a long-term solution for revegetation along Oxley Highway to Kundabung back in 2015. Standard applications were not working well as the site had poor quality soil. So, we tested the soil and designed the mix to address the deficiencies. A Light Compost Blanket became the adoptive application for the remainder of the works. Appropriate topsoil preparation was essential in achieving successful results. https://hubs.la/Q02NgSmG0 #LightCompostBlnket #AmelioratedHydromulch

🌱 Curious about the difference between annual and perennial seeds? Let’s dig in! 🌼 When you’re planning your hydromulch application, understanding the types of seeds you’re using can make it easier to figure out your project timeline. **Annual Seeds:** These seeds give you a quick cover of lush green grasses to provide nutrition and protection for the perennials. They germinate in 1-2 weeks and complete their life cycle in 2-3 months. Annuals provide only temporary coverage. **Perennial Seeds:** These seeds are your long-term grasses. They return year after year, growing bigger and stronger with each passing season. Perennials can create a lasting foundation for your revegetation project. While they may take a bit longer to establish, their presence is well worth the wait. So, whether you’re looking for a temporary cover crop or sustainable long-term growth, understanding these two types of seeds is key. 🌱 Ever wondered how long it takes for grass to grow after you have applied a hydromulch application? 🤔 Revegetating your site can seem like a daunting task, but understanding the timeline can make it much easier. Here’s a simple breakdown of each stage in the grass-growing process: 1️⃣ **Preparation (1-2 weeks)**: Before spraying, it’s crucial to prepare the soil. This includes clearing debris, testing soil health, and aerating the soil with batter chains. A little prep goes a long way. 2️⃣ **Applying Hydromulch (Day 0)**: Once your soil is ready, it’s time to spray the application. Choose a day with mild weather for an even coverage. After spraying, avoid walking or driving over the area for best results. 3️⃣ **Germination (7-14 days)**: Patience is key. After spraying, it typically takes about 7 to 14 days for the seeds to germinate. Standard Applications will require maintenance watering but our Light Compost Blankets can rely solely on rainfall outside drought conditions. 4️⃣ **Initial Growth (4-8 weeks)**: You’ll start to see a healthy cover of annuals and perennial strike. At this stage, you will need to continue watering regularly if you are using a standard application. If you need to mow the grass avoid cutting it too short. No less than 100 mm high to avoid damaging the developing perennial grasses. 5️⃣ **Annuals Die Off (2-3 months)**: The temporary annual grasses will start to yellow and die off, making way for the long-term perennial grasses. Do not worry, this is perfectly normal. 6️⃣ **Long-Term Growth (12-18 months)**: Your perennial grasses will be well-established and can maintain themselves with enough rainfall, sunlight and the right temperature. 🌟 Each stage is crucial for ensuring a healthy, vibrant grass cover. So, whether you’re starting from scratch or reviving an existing site, remember that good things take time. Have questions about grass types or care tips? Drop them in the comments or send us an email. #GrassGrowth #Revegetation #SoilScience #Amelioration

Want to know how to achieve successful growth on your site using a tailored hydromulch application? ✔️Our Compost Blankets are a mix of grass seeds, fertilisers, cellulose fibre, binder, and water, with added ameliorants, which change the properties of the soil. These ameliorants include gypsum, lime, and compost, which help to promote long-term grass growth. 👉Here are 5 simple steps to follow to achieve effective revegetation on your project. #revegetation #hydromulching #grassgrowth #soilscience

🌿Do You Need A Compost Blanket?🌱 If you’re starting a new project, compost blankets can help you set the stage for successful grass growth. The success of your application will be dependent on the ingredients used in the Compost Blanket and adequate surface preparation. Soil Testing is recommended so that the mix can be designed to suit the site conditions present. This allows for the best chance for successful results to occur. Typically, 70-80% of germination is achieved within four to six weeks depending on climatic conditions and rainfall received. How It Works For Your Site ✔️The recommended ameliorants determined by each soil test are added to our tankers, mixed in with the slurry and applied to the soil surface in a single application. ✔️The application forms a paste on the surface, holding seeds in place until initial strike is achieved. ✔️Each customised ameliorant mix works its way into the soil via the ‘Top-Down’ approach, improving the nutrient availability, soil structure and working to release the locked nutrients within the soil. ✔️This methodology kick-starts the natural regeneration process and nutrient cycles that have broken down in a site soil, in order to achieve sustainable long-term germination. #compostblankets #ecofriendly #sustainablegrowth

Client Success Story: Hear what our clients have to say about us: Compost Blanket Sustainability "Whilst employed by InLink on the construction of the Inland Rail Upgrade as the Senior Project Engineer and Earthworks Lead for over a distance of 100 km between Parkes in Narromine in NSW, I continued my association with Valley Hydramulch and Revegetation which started in 2016 on a major freeway upgrade on the north coast of New South Wales. When I arrived on the project, VHR had just been selected to carry out the revegetation works and I became involved with them in their process to determine the best application for the site considering site restraints including quality of available soils, client requirements for revegetation, management of supply and delivery of revegetation materials all along the hundred kilometre alignment, providing design mix applications to various stages along the hundred kilometre alignment where works were not linearly continuous and involved significant travel distances and re-establishment between application areas during site visits. The capability of their Compost Blanket applications to provide service erosion control during extended dry periods enhanced project sustainability as maintenance watering to germination and permanent growth was not required as the quantities of water required was simply not available along the alignment. The total area treated with complete conformance to our works program and client requirements was for 2,300,000 sq. m of their nominated compost blanket applications to the complete satisfaction of the client without any rectification works being required for Project Practical Completion or ongoing maintenance. Their professional advice, established investigation and design processes, their compliance with the InLink Works Program, Site Management and WHS requirements assisted in timely completion of that section of the Inland Rail Development Project." - Nathan Bourne (Bourne Project Support) #DroughtConditions #Hydromulching #CompostBlanket #NoReworks
