The hard truth about lifetime deals: Our $50 promise is finally being fulfilled. When we started Testimonial Donut, we offered $50 lifetime deals to our earliest believers. The promise was simple: Pay once, get lifetime access to our testimonial collection platform. Then reality hit. Building quality software took longer than we expected. Many of those early supporters didn't stick around, and honestly, I don't blame them. I'd probably do the same. But we never stopped building. And now, those patient early adopters who kept faith in us are about to receive exactly what we promised: A fully-functional testimonial system that: → Collects testimonials through customisable forms → Sends requests directly from our platform (currently in beta) → Sets up automated reminders via email/SMS (we've found 3-4 reminders dramatically increases response rates) → Imports testimonials from Google, G2, Capterra, GetApp, Trustpilot and soon LinkedIn → Offers a robust management system for enriching testimonials → Displays testimonials beautifully with customizable widgets that match your brand (colors, fonts, rounded or square corners, sizes, styles, and much more) The big lesson for us? One time payment software deals can be powerful for early validation, but they create a promise that must be honoured, even if it takes longer than expected. To our early believers: Thank you for your patience. Your faith in us wasn't misplaced. As we reach this milestone, we're both excited and, honestly, pretty tired. We've been building this outside our day jobs, pushing hard to create something truly valuable. The foundation is finally where we want it to be. From here, we'll keep refining but we're committed to not bloating the product. We won't build features just for the sake of it. We're also rethinking the typical SaaS pricing model. Let's be honest, testimonial software is often set up once and then tinkered with every few months, not every week. Monthly subscriptions make sense when users get daily/weekly value, but they feel like a tax when you're only logging in occasionally. Even though the testimonials work for you an on your website 24/7, the software itself isn't something you interact with daily. Watch this space for some counter intuitive stuff on our new pricing model in the coming months. ---------------- 👋 I'm Guy, building Testimonial Donut (& Founderoo) with Farzan Maghami. Getting testimonials is a pain in the arse. We make it easy to collect them and add to your landing page in a few clicks. Follow along as we share what works, and what doesn't.

Every weekend at Testimonial Donut. Farzan and I meet with our two co-founders. The engineering brains behind what we're building. We talk about: - What we've done. - What needs doing. - What we dream of creating. No fancy office. No venture funding. No salaries. Just four people who believe in something. The accountant would say we're crazy. The MBA would call it unsustainable. The investor would demand a timeline. But none of them see what we see. When nobody is paid to be there. And everyone still shows up. That's when you know you're onto something. Most founders chase exits. We're playing the long game. The kind of game that keeps you up at night. The kind you can't ignore. When you build something that matters: - Weekends feel like opportunities - Meetings become energizing - Work becomes play We're still figuring out how to make a profit. The money will follow. Or it won't. Either way, every Sunday the online call with the TD team feels exactly where we're meant to be. ---------------- 👋 I'm Guy, building Testimonial Donut (& Founderoo) with Farzan Maghami. The Perfect Moment: Why Timing is Everything for Testimonial Collection. Ever notice how some businesses consistently get amazing testimonials while others struggle for even basic feedback? There's a perfect moment to ask; what I call the "customer delight window", and most businesses completely miss it. Here's what I've observed working with businesses at Testimonial Donut: - Too early: The customer hasn't experienced your full value yet - Too late: Their emotional connection has faded - Just right: When they've just experienced a meaningful win The psychology here is super interesting. We're all more likely to share our experiences during moments of peak satisfaction. For example: - A mortgage broker? The excitement of loan approval - A wedding photographer? The joy of seeing the final photos - A fitness coach? The achievement of a personal best - A SaaS tool? The first time it solves a major pain point But without a system, these moments slip by unnoticed. At Testimonial Donut, we've seen business owners transform their testimonial collection by simply being more intentional about when they ask. Take Jeff from Smooth Studios in Arkansas. By timing his testimonial requests perfectly and offering the right incentive, he's getting an impressive 3 in 10 customers to leave video testimonials. This is well above typical rates. The key insight? The same testimonial request can yield dramatically different results based solely on when you make it. Timing truly is everything. What's your business's perfect moment for a testimonial collection? ---------------- 👋 I'm Guy, building Testimonial Donut (& Founderoo) with Farzan Maghami. The anatomy of a perfect testimonial that actually converts. What makes the difference between a forgettable testimonial and one that drives sales? It's simple: Structure + Specificity. The winning formula includes: - A real person (with photo) - Their specific problem - What changed when they used your solution - Measurable results (not vague praise) - Recent date (freshness matters) Your potential customers aren't just looking for praise. They're looking for proof that you can solve their specific problem. ---------------- 👋 I'm Guy, building Testimonial Donut (& Founderoo) with Farzan Maghami.
