Spotto! Train set (TS) 28 in testing mode on the Sydney Metro Southwest line, including never-before-seen images of a metro train at Bankstown Station 🚇 ⭐ Since the rigorous testing program commenced last week, TS 28 has completed the journey on the new tracks between Sydenham and Bankstown 10 times. Testing is currently focused on Sydenham to Marrickville, although the train continues to run the full line to Bankstown. Fun fact: Did you know TS 28 has a track record in breaking records? Not only was TS 28 the first metro train to navigate the new southwest metro line, it was also the first train to travel beyond Chatswood, including completing the first-ever under-harbour rail crossing, when testing on the city line started in April 2023.

Keen-eyed trainspotters may have noticed a metro train travelling beyond Sydenham for the first time early this morning! This train marks the beginning of an exciting testing and commissioning phase for the newly converted Southwest Metro line between Sydenham and Bankstown. We thank southwest communities and passengers on the M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line for their ongoing patience during a period of increased disruption on the line during testing. There will be several full or partial line closures necessary, along with some evenings where services will stop running at 10pm. We urge passengers to regularly check their transport apps before travelling and apologise for the inconvenience this may cause. Thanks to passengers on the M1 Line for their continued patience during the disruption needed to extend metro services to the southwest. Passengers can expect more disruption as we gear up for the start of train testing – please make sure you check your transport apps before travelling for the most up to date information. First look 👀 Excavation is complete at Sydney Metro West’s Burwood North station site and to celebrate we invited community members behind the gates earlier this month. Top sights included: -A freshly excavated 29-metre-deep box-like structure that is 25 metres wide and 194 metres long and is where the future Burwood North station will be built. -Sydney Metro West’s fully lined tunnels and crossover cavern that will allow trains to cross to the other track during maintenance or in an emergency. -A new pedestrian tunnel eight metres below Parramatta Road that will provide direct access to the station from the south.
