  • It is with deep sadness to hear of the passing of our youngest recruit, Sam Scully (Sergeant Sammy) following his long and hard fought battle with a brain tumour. Sammy passed away peacefully at home yesterday surrounded by his family. As you are aware, Sammy was able to fulfil his dream of becoming a Police Officer when he was ‘sworn in’ in May 2024 and got to ride in the police helicopter. He also got to work with a number of specialist areas such as Water Operations, Mounted Operations, Dog Operations and Bomb Response. Thanks to the effort and support of so many SAPOL members, Sammy’s family were able to make wonderful memories they will never forget.

  • "In 2009, I moved to Victoria to pursue a career in website design but ended up joining Victoria Police (VICPOL). After five years at VICPOL, I decided to leave and return to my roots in South Australia. The decision to move came after becoming a father and realising the need for a better environment to raise my family. The stable roster at SAPOL has meant an increase in quality time with my family and I’ve actually ended up earning more due to penalties. Adelaide’s relaxed vibe is perfect for family life, and the work-life balance here is unbeatable. For any officers considering the move to SA, the quality-of-life improvement is significant. I’ve even been able to go on impromptu getaways with my wife!” – Constable Ngon We’re now recruiting experienced police officers from interstate – so now’s your chance to join us in beautiful, laid-back, “heaps good” SA. Apply now! https://lnkd.in/gSzhxNZf

  • South Australia Police will continue to partner with other government agencies and the public to achieve best practice concerning alcohol and other drug misuse in our community. We’re proud to join forces with Preventive Health SA to launch the South Australian Alcohol and Other Drug Strategy 2025-2030. This includes reducing the number of lives lost on South Australian roads due to fatal crashes. We want to send a clear message to those who choose to drink-drive or use drugs and drive, putting others at risk on our roads. Our educational multimedia campaigns will continue to inform the public about the risks of alcohol and drug-driving. SAPOL plays a critical role in the delivery of the strategy’s priority actions that impact on illicit drug supply. This will be achieved by deterring, detecting, disrupting and dismantling those involved in the illicit drug trade at all levels. Read the strategy: https://lnkd.in/g9pWGXmz

  • Last week, members from South Australia Police hosted 10 Murray Bridge High School students for a Blue Light Camp at Goolwa with Clontarf and NREC (Ngarrindjeri Ruwe Empowered Communities). The aim of the camp was to foster positive interaction between youth and police. The group enjoyed cockling, fishing at the Murray Mouth, cooking, visiting the Goolwa Pipi Co. processing plant and the Kuti Shack to learn the workings of a restaurant and listen to stories from Elders. Great work to all involved.
