Shoal Group Pty Ltd provides systems engineering and modelling & simulation services to Solarh2e in their decarbonisation solution for heavy haulage in the #mining sector. I wanted to apply what I had learnt, and, at the same time, I was expecting to learn lots as we didn’t really cover systems engineering well at university. Separate from that, I’m highly motivated by Australian sovereignty and the Defence mission. The types of systems that the military employs are unlike anything else. Everything is bigger, faster, and just better!", he says. Even though Matt has primarily work in #Defence, his project experiences have been diverse, from space-based observation, cyber warfare, electronic warfare, to deployable infrastructure and training systems. Last week, members of our Shoal Group Pty Ltd team - Tom Cernev and Jerome Pong - headed out to Roseworthy to watch Australian and international student teams compete in the Australian Rover Challenge. Held at the impressive new course at the University of Adelaide, they watched teams compete in the annual robotics competition to complete a set of challenges. Each team had built a semi-autonomous rover and set off to compete a range of tasks in the custom-built lunar environment. It was great to see the passion behind each university team. The Shoal team are out in force at Avalon Air Show this week. On Monday, Emma Comino presented two papers at the 21st Australian International Aerospace Congress #AIAC21, supported in the audience by John Wharington (co-author of both papers) and Matthew King. On Tuesday, our Head of Engineering - Matthew Wylie - was a panel member at QinetiQ Australia's discussion on Advancing Test and Evaluation with Digital Engineering, as the expert in #DigitalEngineering. They have since been joined by Matthew Orman and Shena Howell, to round out the team. As the leading company in modelling, simulation and analysis in Australia, it's been great to connect with the #defence and #space community at the range of events on show, including Southern Space 2025 with the Space Industry Association of Australia and, of course, the Avalon Australian International Airshow and Defence Exposition 2025.
