🎉Happy Birthday to me! Sharing a very special message from our Group CEO Martin Hosking marking our 18th Birthday!!
We have just passed through an important milestone - on February 2 2007 Redbubble officially came to life on the Internet. Each year I have marked this occasion. And this year is especially auspicious as Redbubble is 18 years old. Old enough to buy a drink, (at least in Australia), to vote or be sent off to war (in too many parts of the world). And Redbubble is now part of the Articore Group with TeePublic and our newly launched solution for creators, Dashery. Over the years we have marked this occasion in various ways but perhaps in the great tradition of 18 year old birthday parties maybe you will indulge me if I just share some embarrassing photos. So just a few from my collection: 1. The original timeline to launch. Was supposed to be 4 months, took 7. Still not terrible given it was all original code (Ruby on Rails). 2. One of the early iterations of the site (yes, pretty was important) 3. Our second office (anybody recognise anybody?). I can name a few names but perhaps will refrain as many have gone onto greatness. Feel free to self-identify 4. Our servers as we moved from one ISP to another (offline for a few hours!) 5. An early version of the mission. It is very familiar - a focus on art, creators and the value of creativity in our world 6. A signpost to our SXSW Gallery (just sharing because I am going back this year for the Creator Stream) 7. An early birthday photo (yes funny is also important) 8. A gallery in Melbourne (Collingwood) where we hosted an exhibition for artists on Redbubble. This was a big part of our early growth strategy as we merged the real and the virtual worlds TeePublic's birth is the US Spring and will share some of their baby photos later. It feels quite special to be part of something that has been around for a while but still has a long way to go.
