RAC was proud to sponsor Dr Karl Kruszelnicki as this year’s celebrity speaker at the 78th EHA State Conference. His trademark enthusiasm and storytelling made for an unforgettable session. It was a pleasure to connect with our sensor host stakeholders and so many passionate professionals as we showcased RAC’s Air Health Monitor, Australia’s largest air quality sensor network. Visit rac.com.au/airhealth to see air quality levels in your local area. #airhealth #EHAconference #sustainability

RAC CoLAB recently hosted 13 talented students from IDEA across a two-day design hackathon 💡 The students, who are currently learning to drive, shared their experiences, wishes and ideas on how support could be improved for learner drivers across WA, and the parents who teach them. RAC CoLAB guided the students with co-design activities, journey maps, playdough, and other tools to help them reflect and refine their ideas. Four brilliant design concepts were generated by the end of the hackathon. If you are a parent teaching someone to drive, or a young person (16-25 years) currently learning to drive, we encourage you to vote for which idea you like best: Young Person’s Choice: https://brnw.ch/21wRTFP Parents Choice: https://brnw.ch/21wRTFO As a design-research team within RAC, RAC CoLAB regularly collaborates with members of the WA community to gain insights into their needs and aspirations. We want to wholeheartedly thank the students at IDEA Academy for sharing their experiences and insights. The event gave us a deeper understanding of the needs of young people currently learning to drive, and how we could better support them to be safer drivers on WA roads 🚗 #hackathon #design #youngdrivers #roadsafety #codesign

At RAC, our people deliver great member services and experiences every day. One of our Roadside Assistance team members, Chris Evans, was named our 2024 On a Mission for Our Members winner and he sums it up best: “I love helping people.”   "I was nominated for going above and beyond to support our members, including an incident where a child was suffering from heat exhaustion."   "My favourite part about working for RAC is getting in there, fixing a member’s car and getting that happy outcome. That inspires me to get up every morning." Recognition is a big part of life at RAC. Each year, we celebrate our people who have gone above and beyond in their role and demonstrated commitment to our LEAD behaviours at our RAC Stars awards. Over 100,000! 🎇 That’s how many students have attended RAC bstreetsmart since it launched in 2012. Last week, we wrapped up two powerful days at RAC Arena, educating the next generation of drivers about the real-life consequences of distracted driving, speeding, and drink driving, brought to life through a live crash re-enactment. A huge thank you to our event partners Department of Fire and Emergency Services, East Metropolitan Health Service, St John WA, WA Police Force, and our guest speakers Happiness Co and Robert Pike for helping us make a lasting impact. Every student who walks away from RAC bstreetsmart with a new perspective is a step toward safer roads for all. #RoadSafety #RACbstreetsmart #SafeDriving

As WA’s population booms, what are the best ways to live and travel? An RAC survey asked 310 members this question, finding most supported higher density living, coupled with expanded public transport. Results also showed higher public transport use for people living within 20kms of the CBD, compared to those living in the outer suburbs. This week, we celebrated our diverse cultural backgrounds, perspectives and experiences as part of Harmony Week.   🧑🍳 Our Flavours of Harmony event at our Koorlup (West Perth) office was organised by Multicultural RAC, one of our employee-led diversity networks. Our people came together to showcase their culinary skills and cultural heritage, as well as a healthy dose of competition with an international quiz. 🗣️ Our Sales & Member Service teams also tested their skills with some tongue twisters in different languages.   At RAC, we value diversity of thought and skill. Our diversity networks and events like this are just one way we’re fostering a culture where all our people can thrive and belong. We also recognise today is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. As an organisation, we reaffirm our commitment to equality and to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace for all.

An RAC poll revealed the top five worst road behaviours with over 14,000 road users weighing in. Topping the list was road rage and frustration, followed by driver distraction and mobile phone use. Coming in third, fourth and fifth was poor knowledge of road rules, speeding and inability to merge. Results serve as a reminder about the importance of keeping road behaviours – and emotions – in check behind the wheel. Read the full story here: https://bitly.cx/l6tUD

Congratulations, Jennifer Morrison, on your incredible 51-year career at RAC ⭐ Jen’s journey with RAC began in 1974 at just 16 years old, starting with the humble task of filing ‘change of address’ slips for insurance policies—before computers were invented. Over the years, she has worked in various roles, from typist to call centre operator, and in 2005, she joined the member-facing team at our Carousel Shopping Centre branch. Throughout her career, Jen has seen countless changes, yet her positive attitude, sense of humour, and unwavering passion for helping members have remained constants. Jen’s impact goes beyond her day-to-day work. Early in her career, she was recognised for her sustainability initiative to replace polystyrene cups with mugs in the cafeteria. She has made many lifelong friendships at work, including forming "The Golden Girls" group with her close colleagues, who still holiday together each year. Jen's dedication to our members is evident in the way she touched so many lives. Many members visited her at work regularly and even celebrated birthdays and life events with her. One member, in particular, sent her an annual Christmas card from Melbourne. Jen, thank you for your decades of exceptional service, for supporting our members, and for helping to make WA a better place. Happy retirement Jen 💛

Young people working together to create safer streets and connected communities 💡🌱 Across multiple creative workshops and build days, over 35 young leaders envisaged and transformed Kalamunda’s main street. They built permanent seating, bike parking and planter boxes. To help direct people to cross Haynes Street safely, they also painted a 60m long footpath mural, designed by a young local artist. This project demonstrates what can be achieved when young leaders step up to reimagine and revitalise their local street and public spaces. A huge thank you to everyone involved including the City of Kalamunda and Youth Action Kalamunda. Are you passionate about creating safer streets and more welcoming community spaces? RAC hosted over 1,300 South West students at RAC Project Road Smart over the past two days. Held at Bunbury Entertainment Centre, students learnt the consequences of risky driving and the effect it has on themselves and the community. RAC Project Road Smart is a free road safety event for year 10 to 12 students, run by RAC with support from WA Police, Department of Fire and Emergency Services and St John WA. Students from 14 schools had the chance to hear the road safety story of guest speaker, Rob Pike, followed by a lesson on resilience from Happiness Co. and an interactive session with emergency services.
