🚀 Unlocking the Power of Microsoft 365 for In-House Legal Teams Nam Truong recently took the stage at LEGAL INNOVATION & TECH FEST in Sydney to showcase how in-house legal teams can leverage Microsoft tools to streamline processes, improve automation and manage matters effectively. In a live-demo, Nam demonstrated how teams can create a free matter management solution using Microsoft Lists, linked seamlessly to an MS Forms intake form and a Power BI dashboard for reporting. If you’d like to discuss how your team could use this lightweight, cost-effective approach as an accessible starting point for organising and tracking legal matters, reach out to Nam today. 👏 Thanks to all who attended Nam’s session – with special thanks to the host-with-the-most Theo Kapodistrias 🦸🏻 #LegalTech #LegalInnovation #Microsoft365 #InHouseLegal

It was a pleasure to speak at the LEGAL INNOVATION & TECH FEST on AI Strategy for Long-term Success with Caryn Sandler and Cassandra Brian. Like any strategic priority, alignment is a critical factor to success, and like all innovation, the key to creating value is the people not the technology. Exciting times ahead for the legal industry as we leverage AI to create value for our clients, our people and the community. #innovation #legaltech #mcr #legaltechfest
Last week, Chief Operating Officer Kim Trajer and Director of Knowledge and Legal Excellence Nicola Blade attended the Legal Innovation and Technology Festival. The two-day event brought together law firms, technology leaders, and senior corporate counsel to celebrate the innovations shaping legal practice, while exploring key themes of AI, innovation, change-driving skills, and the future of legal talent. This year, Kim joined Caryn Sandler, Partner and Chief Knowledge and Innovation Officer at Gilbert + Tobin, and Cassandra Brian, Senior Legal Transformation Manager at Gilbert + Tobin, for a panel discussion facilitated by Jennifer Cathcart from Netdocs on the strategic integration of AI in legal practice. The discussion explored how legal teams can align on AI strategy to enhance efficiency and compliance, leverage innovation to attract top talent, and integrate AI into workflows to improve collaboration and empower teams. At McR, we are strategically focused on the future of work, leveraging technology and AI while fostering a culture of innovation. Implementing new ideas that deliver real value to our clients remains central to our approach, and we look forward to continuing this commitment as we approach our centenary in 2026. #mcr #ai #innovation #legaltechfest

Overwhelmed but optimistic ✨ My LEGAL INNOVATION & TECH FEST wrap-up 🎤🧠🤖 I wandered around Sydney the morning after #LegalTechFest to record my reflections… & excitement (plus a good dash of self-critique... more on that later this week). 🧠 AI is everywhere... and some are pulling ahead. I loved the way Schellie-Jayne Price and Irene Kuo GAICD encouraged us to think of the risks as well as the mitigations. Really practical stuff! Many people seem to try Gen AI once and give up, declaring it 'dumb' without adjusting their approach. It's actually a fascinating study to see people's growth (or fixed!) mindset in real time For small in house legal teams and sole practitioners like me, the question isn’t whether or not to use AI... we absolutely must if we want to stay in the game. The questions is how to do it ethically, efficiently, and in a way that reflects our values. ⚖️ Plain language and clarity matters more than ever. You scrape your plate before you put it in the dishwasher. You pick things up before you vacuum the floor. If you want AI tools to actually work with your content and contracts… clean them up first! Those already on the simplification journey will see big benefits in lower costs to train and build AI for their legal teams... You'll save time, money, and emissions. (Yes, emissions... AI doesn’t run on magic, and I'll be chatting about this more over the next few months... something for us to team up on Kiarne Treacy)! 🛠️ Will Service Providers pull back from single solutions? I am leaning more and more towards wanting less businesses to have my information... I pthink the pull towards an "all-in-one" stack like Office 365 is strong (& growing stronger after hearing about large legal ops teams creating 4th party policies) 🌟📚 Knowledge management is having a glow-up Shoutout to Sarah Jacobson at MinterEllison, Fiona Lymant at McCabes Lawyers, and Lauren Myers at University of Sydney for their AI readiness checklist... KM work is mysterius and important... and it will never get easier. So start now. Like... right now! 🌱 Flexibility is powerful... time for small teams to shine I'll admit, gigantic law firms with huge AI budgets and impressive city views intimidate me...🏙️ Then I remember tiny firms and small legal teams can experiment and move fast. We can quickly implement a good tool at 85% (instead of slowly rolling out an incredible tool at 20%). We don’t have to wait for permission. We can do cool things with tech that we can build and test quickly. Some thank you notes 💐 💐Hannover Fairs Australia another incredible event, congrats on 10 years💞 💐 Tyrilly Csillag & the wonderful Thomson Reuters Legal Australia dinner! 💐 Katrina Gowans & the in house AI roundtable at Relativity Fest 💡 💐 theWiLD & She Breaks the Law Priya Lele & everyone who came to our meet up! #LegalInnovation #LegalTech #SmallFirmBigIdeas #LegalOps #ChecklistLegal #PlainLanguage #AI #LegalDesign #LegalLightbulbs
