We are thrilled to announce Military and Emergency Services Health Australia (a charity of THRFG) have received the 2025 SA Life Award from Suicide Prevention Australia in the Innovative Practice and Research category for their Support after First Responder and Military Suicide Study! 🎉 Congratulations to the MESHA team on this outstanding achievement. 👏
🎉 We are excited to announce that we have received the 2025 SA Life Award from Suicide Prevention Australia in the Innovative Practice and Research category for our Support after First Responder and Military Suicide Study! 🎉 This initiative aims to establish a national framework to support families and co-workers of military and emergency service personnel who have died by suicide. Given the high exposure to suicide within these communities and the severe lack of tailored support services, this initiative is crucial. By bringing together key stakeholders and organizations across Australia, we are co-designing and executing a multi-stage project that considers pre-existing international literature and the Australian context. This work is impacting national policy change, service delivery, and the ongoing development of practical resources. Thank you to everyone involved in making this possible! Together, we are making a difference. 💙 #Innovation #Research #SuicidePrevention #Support #FirstResponders #Military #MentalHealth #Community

On World Autism Awareness Day, we shine a light on a new Murdoch University program that has given Perth sisters Bunny and Kitty the confidence to step back into sports and embrace new challenges! 🐰🐱 📎 Find out more about this life-changing program: https://lnkd.in/gWMHQ6nm ✳️ Researchers featured in this story acknowledge that many members in the autism community prefer identity first language. In this story, we have used person-first language based on preferences of children involved in the project and the researchers’ own children with autism. #THRFG #MurdochUniversity #PhysicalActivity #KidsHealth #Confidence #TelethonGrant

During Parkinson's Awareness Month in April, we'll shine a light on this neurological condition that impacts over 150,000 Australians including younger people than you might think. 👉 The perception that Parkinson’s affects only older people is wrong. More than 1,100 Australians under 65 are living with Young Onset Parkinson's. 👉 About 10-20% of people with Parkinson’s have symptoms before the age of 50, with many diagnosed in their 30s and 40s. 👉 We provide support for those living with Parkinson's in SA and the ACT. 💜 For help and assistance, visit https://lnkd.in/gjk7_zpy or call The Hospital Research Foundation Group - Parkinson's (a charity of THRFG) on 1800 644 189. #ParkinsonsAwarenessMonth #Parkinsons #YoungOnsetParkinsons

NEW grant to improve dementia care in hospitals 🥰 As more people with dementia are admitted to general hospital wards, there's an increasing need to find better ways to support them. That’s why we’re so proud to be supporting Associate Professor Maayken van den Berg from Flinders University and Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) to address this need, in a new project titled CARE-D (Coordinated Approach for Responsive Engagement in Dementia). The project aims to help patients whose symptoms worsen when moved from their familiar home to an unfamiliar hospital setting, which can leave them feeling disorientated and agitated. 📎 Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/ggwntWEv
