Let us debunk 18 misleading myths about heat pumps. I have come across this good article published by carbonbrief.org https://lnkd.in/e-nzTRgM Curious about what are those 18 myths? FALSE: ‘Heat pumps don’t work in existing buildings.’ FALSE: ‘Heat pumps only work in highly insulated buildings.’ FALSE: ‘Heat pumps only work with underfloor heating.’ FALSE: ‘Heat pumps won’t work in flats.’ FALSE: ‘Heat pumps don’t work when it’s cold.’ FALSE: ‘Heat pumps will always need a backup heating system to keep you warm.‘ FALSE: ‘Heat pumps won’t keep you warm.’ INCOMPLETE: ‘You will freeze during a power cut and be better off with a gas boiler.’ FALSE: ‘Heat pumps are noisy.’ INCOMPLETE: ‘Heat pumps cost more to run and will increase heating bills.’ FALSE. ‘Turning gas to electricity to heat via a heat pump is less efficient than burning gas in a boiler.’ FALSE: ‘Heat pumps will never offset the carbon emissions resulting from making them.’ FALSE: ‘Heat pumps devalue properties.’ INCOMPLETE: ‘Heat pumps are unaffordable.’ INCOMPLETE: ‘The grid cannot cope with heat pumps.’ INCOMPLETE: ‘Heat pumps don’t work with microbore piping.’ FALSE: ‘Heat pumps don’t last long.’ INCOMPLETE: ‘Heat pumps are new and untested technology.’

Government energy incentives in Australia were first established with the introduction of the Mandatory Renewable EnergyTarget (MRET) in 2001, which aimed to ensure that renewable energy reached a 20% share of electricity supply by 2020. The MRET was designed to increase new generation from renewable sources, initially requiring large electricity purchasers to source an additional two percent of their electricity from renewable sources by 2010. This framework was expanded and solidified by the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Amendment Act 2009, which increased the renewable energy generation target and introduced the solar credits multiplier, fostering greater adoption of solar technologies (Parliament of Australia,n.d.). Australian energy incentives are closely aligned with the AS/ANZ 4234 standard, which provides a framework for assessing the energy performance of solar and heat pump water heaters across various climate zones. 🌍🔥 Looking to make your home more energy-efficient? Consider upgrading to a Heat Pump Hot Water System! According to a guide from EnergyAustralia, these systems can use up to 70% less energy to heat water than conventional electric systems. They work by absorbing heat from the surrounding air (or ground, in some cases) and transferring it to the water inside the heater. Yes, it’s similar to how your refrigerator works, but in reverse! While the initial cost may be higher, the energy savings in the long run make it a worthwhile investment. The Department of Climate and Energy Action in NSW has issued a notice announcing changes to the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (#PDRS), effective from July 2024. These changes include: * Amending activity definition #WH1 to allow only large heat pump hot water heaters that are not eligible for Small-Scale Renewable Energy Scheme (#SRES) incentives. This means HPWHs will either be eligible for ESC + STC (small systems), or ESC + PRC (large systems). Do you want to read more? https://lnkd.in/gvfvqWR6 #energyae #energyincentive #heatpump
