🔎 HERITAGE HIGHLIGHT 🔎 This historic 1898 building once housed pawnbroker Phineas Seeligson, a key figure during Perth’s 1890s gold rush 💰 Over the years it’s seen many tenants, including Charlie Carter’s Store with its memorable slogan 👉 take it away! Today, it continues to serve Perth’s bustling retail scene in Murray Street Mall 🛍️

Take a look at how Victoria Quay is shaping up 👀👏
We're working hard to transform the western end of Victoria Quay into a vibrant destination for tourism and trade. In that, making the precinct more comfortable and interesting for visitors has been a priority. Along the way - and in our work ahead of us - we are committed to relating well the various historical themes of the site, including its Indigenous history. Victoria Quay has many stories to tell, ranging from its wartime role, its construction, as an immigration arrival point to Australia, labour relations and of course trade. Check out how things are looking now! Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage #fremantle #Noongar

The Metropolitan Region Scheme has been upgraded 🚀 The 1963 scheme text helped shaped our city and suburbs, but Perth has changed. The modernised scheme will boost housing supply through streamlined planning approvals ✅ Simplifying planning processes will help ensure the scheme text is fit-for-purpose for all stakeholders and our growing communities 🤝

We've thoroughly enjoyed working with Fremantle Ports on this project and are excited to see the transformations underway at Victoria Quay! 😍
As Victoria Quay continues its transition from an operational area to a vibrant waterfront destination, our unique heritage buildings will be a key element of that transformation. The remediation of the turn-of-the-century transit sheds and workshops has been Fremantle Ports’ focus in the precinct in recent years and, as with A Shed (now leased by Gage Roads), conforming to heritage obligations is a priority so these buildings can be repurposed and enjoyed for generations to come. We hope to announce soon how the first of the five workshop bays north of Slip Street will be transformed, and in the meantime, you can look out for fun activations in our quaint laneways and the WA Maritime Museum forecourt. #fremantleports #victoriaquay #waterfront #tourism #cargosheds #transformation #ports
