A whopping $58 billion of new private investment would be lost to the Australian economy, should the renewable energy roll-out be stalled, new analysis has found. The analysis, by Green Energy Markets, shows that, under the Coalition’s nuclear plan, which would cap renewable energy generation at 54 per cent: ❌ $58 billion would be wiped from our economy ❌ more than 42,000 full-time equivalent jobs would not be realised ❌ up to $3.4 billion in landholder payments for those hosting renewable assets on their property would be lost ❌ $696 million in direct community contributions relinquished ❌ up to $68 billion of economic activity, which clean energy will generate for regional Australia as modelled by the Regional Australia Institute, would be foregone. Meanwhile, the Coalition’s nuclear plan would cost taxpayers approximately $600 billion, take upwards of 15 years to deliver and result in average annual household energy bill increases of up to $449 in 2030. "Blocking $58 billion in clean energy investment would pull the brakes on benefits for Aussies, while we wait for a $600 billion taxpayer funded nuclear plan that is decades away," said our Chief Executive, Kane Thornton.
