Doyntj-Doyntj Maladjiny – Growing Together We were proud to be part of WALGA’s 2025 Aboriginal Engagement Forum, which explored how collaboration can build stronger relationships with Aboriginal communities and drive positive change. Our Roley Pools Heritage Walk Trails project was showcased as a local example of co-design in action — developed closely with our Aboriginal community, the trail features interpretive signage in written, spoken, and video formats, all accessible via QR codes. The day was filled with powerful storytelling, cultural performances, and inspiring local government case studies — including City of Canning’s Ngalang Kadjin Moorditj youth engagement program and City of Swan’s NAIDOC Fashion Week, highlighting creative pathways for Aboriginal young people. We left inspired and grateful to have shared in such meaningful conversations and connections.

The City of Armadale was proud to co-host a session with UWA, as we continue to bring the Armadale University Study Hub to life. Minister for Education and Member for Armadale Tony Buti MLA was joined by Mayor Ruth Butterfield, along with all five WA universities and other stakeholders of WA University Study Hubs. The goal was to bring together key stakeholders to strengthen the future of Suburban University Study Hubs, and discuss how we can best serve the community. University Study Hubs provide essential resources, support, and a localised study experience for students enrolled in university and tertiary education. The Armadale University Study Hub will provide a much needed space to assist with the challenges of tertiary education studies outside of the traditional university campus. Thank you to the Federal Department of Education and Member for Burt Matt Keogh MP for providing the funding to make this a reality.

Exciting news for the City of Armadale! 🎉 We welcome the commitment from Opposition Leader Libby Mettam and the WA Liberal Party to invest $20 million in the Armadale Regional Recreation Reserve (ARRR) if elected in March. This pledge brings us one step closer to turning this vision into reality. Mayor Ruth Butterfield said: “We have been tirelessly advocating for this project, and we are extremely pleased that the WA Liberal Party have committed to $20M funding toward Stage 1A of the ARRR, if elected. “The City will continue to advocate for support from the Federal Government, recognising that outer metropolitan growth areas like ours, are only able to provide Regional facilities when all levels of government work together. We are dependent on a matching financial contribution from the Federal Government to make the ARRR Stage 1A a reality.” 🔗 Read more: https://buff.ly/3QcWBgF 📸 Pictured: City of Armadale CEO Joanne Abbiss, Liberal for Darling Range Paul Mansfield, Opposition Leader Libby Mettam MLA, and Mayor Ruth Butterfield.

🔋 Project Jupiter Launches at Harrisdale Community Battery Site 🔋 A significant milestone for Western Australia’s energy future. Our Harrisdale Playing Fields hosted the official launch of Project Jupiter, led by Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Hon. Josh Wilson MP. Joined by Local Member for Burt, Hon. Matt Keogh MP, Mayor Ruth Butterfield, and senior representatives from Synergy, Western Power, the Australian Energy Market Operator, and Energy Policy WA, the event highlighted the next step in integrating solar and battery storage into WA’s energy system. Project Jupiter builds on the insights from Project Symphony, which successfully implemented WA’s first virtual power plant in Harrisdale and supported renewable energy initiatives like solar panel installations at the Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre. This initiative is a major step towards a more secure, sustainable, and decarbonised energy grid, ensuring WA remains at the forefront of smart energy solutions.
