AUSCEP Pitstop 5 was held last week in NSW and Victoria and we started with pitching from participants in each state to the whole cohort. We heard from Jerry Zhou on his medical device 'Ins&Outs' and his company Amazing Gut, his clinical trials and his TGA journey. This was followed by a presentation from ANDHealth on the TGA Software as a Medical Device requirements. Following these joint online sessions the two states held local facilitated sessions, reviewing each participants regulatory needs and looking at their Business Model Canvas. Adam Wardell demonstrated his amazing energy and knowledge in the room with the NSW cohort and ANDHealth and the Victorian Medtech Hub worked with the Victorian cohort. Thanks to everyone involved in delivering our pitstops. The following quote illustrates what the AUSCEP participants are getting out of the program. ‘AUSCEP is taking clinicians with really relevant experience and relevant ideas, because we are direct on the ground and seeing where innovation is needed, and giving us the skills we have not been taught before that are just not intuitive. What an incredible day at our fourth Pitstop event! Yesterday, we dove into Structuring Your Business & Building a Team — two critical elements for any successful venture. We were fortunate to hear from two amazing experts: • Troy Rotar from PwC, who shared valuable insights on how to structure an early-stage business for growth. • Damien Kenny, Chief of Staff at Bupa, who provided brilliant advice on building and nurturing high-performing teams. Our participants delivered some impressive pitches, and we made significant strides in refining our Business Model Canvas. A huge thank you to Duncan Macinnis, Anna Barker, and Jarrod Belcher GAICD for facilitating and guiding the sessions. On Thursday 6th February AUSCEP held the third of eight in-person training 'PITSTOPS'. With a focus on 'defining the solution' we worked on: •An introduction and practise of pitching. •Understanding Intellectual Property. •Identifying the skills required to develop the solution. •Working to define the customer journey based on your stakeholder interviews. •Understanding assumptions and prototyping your solution. It was a full day with lots of progress on each participants concept as well as great peer support from other clinicians in the room. Thanks to all participants for engaging in the day and to facilitators Duncan Macinnis, Dr Nathan Moore PhD FAIDH, Anna Barker, Dr Brandon Carp for delivering such a packed agenda.
