A big thank you to everyone who visited our stall at VolunteeringACT's annual Volunteer Expo last Friday! 🙏 It was fantastic meeting so many passionate individuals and exploring how their interests align with Anglicare’s mission. Together, we can achieve so much! If you couldn’t make it to the expo, don’t worry—we still have plenty of volunteer opportunities available. We’d love to hear from you! "Anglicare is excited to be part of Anglican Diocesan Services (ADS)'s transition to a fully electric vehicle fleet for staff--driving sustainability and cost savings forward!"
The convenience of my in-home charger ⚡ means that driving an EV for work has been a simple transition. EV's are a dream when you get home, pull into the garage and charge up, ready to go again. It doesn't require much planning at all, just a little bit of intentionality. The crew at Origin Energy made it easy and straightforward to get the charger installed. Day to day, EV life is zippy and it feels good to know that our EV car fleet is saving us money Anglicare NSW South, NSW West & ACT. I am grateful to get to share my driving story with Anita at Origin Energy and to talk charging every time I cross paths with our in-house guru Mark. If your business is thinking about transitioning even part of your fleet, I can say, go for it, you'll never look back. https://lnkd.in/gkjW2AiE

At Anglicare we believe that achieving true gender equality is not just a goal - it’s a necessity. It's about creating a world where every woman—regardless of where she was born, her socioeconomic status, or her background—has the opportunity to thrive. It’s about ensuring that women are not only included but empowered at every level, from the home to the workplace to the highest echelons of government and business. This year, as we celebrate International Women’s Day under the theme #MarchForward, we are reminded that there is still much work to do. We must continue to advocate, challenge, and act. Together, let’s #MarchForward toward a future where gender equality is not a distant aspiration, but a reality for all. 💙 #internationalwomensday

Last week, members of Anglicare’s Youth Reference Group (YRG) were invited to participate in a panel at the Child Inclusive Practice Forum 2025. Run by Family & Relationship Services Australia (FRSA), the forum brought together mediators, social workers, psychologists, and counsellors that work in child and family services and Family Dispute Resolution (mediation). Considering the forum’s theme of Putting Children at the Centre, it was fitting that the voices of young people were central to the event, and members of Anglicare’s YRG received positive feedback from the audience of professionals for their ability to articulate the youth perspective and their willingness to share their own personal experiences. Anglicare’s YRG consists of young people, aged 12-25, who access our services and provide valuable insight into our programs and the issues that impact young people today. We are extremely thankful for their ongoing engagement and for helping us to continually improve how we operate. Learn more about the YRG and our other youth services here: https://lnkd.in/ggwWkT4Z

At Anglicare, we are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside and learn from local community groups and organisations like the RFS. These relationships are instrumental in helping to build connected communities from the ground up. Check out this video featuring Jeff Lucas, a volunteer with the Broulee/Mossy Point RFS, as he discusses the impact of our Supporting Spontaneous Volunteers program in the Bega Valley and Eurobodalla Shires. This program is empowering local communities at the grassroots level, helping them become more resilient and better prepared for future emergencies. 💙

This week marks 5 years from the devastating Black Summer Bushfires, and we are incredibly proud of our Bushfire Recovery team. Anglicare was one of the first organisations to respond following the 2020 fires, and our efforts to support those impacted continue today—long after most other support programs ceased. The team has been led by the exceptional and dedicated Joanne Murrell, and has provided consistent, trauma-informed consultation and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable communities and individuals—never forgetting that recovery is often long and rarely linear. As Joanne says in this interview with 7News Riverina: “Everybody’s journey is different. Some people have made peace with where they are at the moment and some people still have a long way to go”. While funding for our Bushfire Recovery programs will wrap up in March, our work in the region will continue. Starting this year, our Supporting Spontaneous Volunteers program is aimed at increasing disaster preparedness and building community resilience through a consultative approach. As we witness the ongoing situation in Los Angeles, our hearts go out to those who are impacted, and we are reminded how quickly, and totally, natural disaster can devastate a community. Our thoughts are also with the first responders, emergency services, and all those working tirelessly to protect lives and property. While we can’t prevent disasters, we will continue to be part of the response, the preparedness and the recovery. Last Thursday and Friday, staff from across our region gathered in Canberra for our annual Anglicare Leadership Forum. We gained valuable insight from guest speakers including John Body, expert in critical thinking, @donna Richards Donna Richards from Australian Childhood Foundation who spoke on the neurobiology of self-care and Jason Clarke from Minds at Work who inspired us to renovate our minds on tap. We also took this opportunity to celebrate our staff—who go above and beyond to create positive connections with the families, individuals and communities we serve—with a celebratory dinner and presentation of staff awards. We are incredibly thankful to the team at Colliers for supporting the event and for sharing with us their vision of the future of regional investment, and to the inimitable Kristin Davidson who, despite her busy schedule, made time to MC our awards dinner with grace and humour!

Congratulations to our very own Pauline Sullivan, Anglicare’s Emergency Relief Coordinator on the South Coast, who was recognised for her outstanding services to the community with an invitation to last weekend’s Vice Regal Community Reception in Moruya! The event was hosted by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales, and Mr. Dennis Wilson, and attended by Mathew Hatcher - Mayor Eurobodalla Shire who explained it as an opportunity for the Governor to acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional contributions of community leaders, organisational members, and volunteers in the region, particularly in the aftermath of the 2019-20 Black Summer Bushfires. We are thrilled to see Pauline being praised at the highest level for the tireless work she undertakes in Moruya and the broader Eurobodalla region!
