🪞 2025 UK Joint Conference - Upon Reflection 🪞   Thank you to all that attended the 18th year of the Annual UK Joint Conference!   'The Veronica's' did an incredible job as MC's, despite having less than 24 hours' notice Veronica Johnstone, Veronica Beilby FCA, Assoc CIPD. They provided humour, charisma, warmth and knowledge to ensure the day remained well on track and on time.    Our SAICA representatives worked wonderfully alongside us Sarah Varney, Sarah-Jane Arscott, Catherine Nichas CA(SA). Led by Veronica Johnstone, the JC Committee provided valuable input.   A special shoutout to our strategic sponsor ACCA, specifically Helen Brand, Amanda Thurlow, Melanie Venes and their team. It was fantastic to see ACCA CEO Helen Brand and CA ANZ CEO Ainslie van Onselen speak on a panel discussion surrounding the 'Attractiveness of the Accounting Profession' alongside CA ANZ Group Executive (Advocacy and International Development) Simon G. as Moderator.   Our sponsor representatives from ACCA, Robert Walters and the Advisory Board Centre provided excellent overviews of their involvement with CA ANZ. We heard from Dr Dinusha Weerawardane (PhD, FCCA, NTF, PFHEA) from ACCA, Elizabeth Wooliscroft, Dom Horne from Robert Walters and Veronica Beilby FCA, Assoc CIPD from the Advisory Board Centre.   The day began with Mandipa Soni who discussed the topic 'Global Taxation: Navigating Tax Challenges in 2025'. With over 13 years of experience in corporate and international tax, Mandipa delivered an insightful, engaging view on current trepidations of tax.   Leading futurist Andrew Grill discussed 'The Workplace of the Future Under AI - What Does the World Look like Under Generative AI?' He outlined the need to be curious about technology, whilst showcasing impressive use-cases of AI tools. His book 'Digitally Curious' sold out on the day! Post lunch, CA ANZ Board Chair, Non-Executive Director John Palermo lead the Heads and Tails tradition. Founder and Host of the 'Race Forward' Podcast, Lydiah Igweh spoke eloquently on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. The audience was moved and awakened by her description of belonging, and what it is to be truly one's unapologetic self. We loved dancing alongside you Lydiah!   Longstanding presenter Ross Walker spoke on the '2025 UK Economic Outlook - the 'Prospect for Economic Growth, Inflation, the Labour Market and Interest Rates.' It was fantastic to see the warmth that resonated from the crowd towards Ross Walker's return.   Keynote Speaker Professor Suzie Imber provided an incredible presentation on her experiences with the UK Space Agency, NASA, Qineteq and Virgin Galactic. She has travelled to a number of the most inhospitable places on the planet, and her adventures truly wowed the room!   The opportunity to receive a complimentary headshot this year was expertly executed by our photographer Peter Livingstone UK CA ANZ Team Sophie O'Donnell Charlotte Kirkland Sophie Cropper
