About This Position

We are seeking a strategic, research-driven, and analytical consultant to join our team. As a research consultant, you will build upon prior work in the Division for Innovation for Citizen Services (ICS), specifically in the core areas of transparency, public integrity, public-private integrity, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) to contribute to three main activities. Your role will first involve supporting the knowledge agenda including, updating databases of indicators, generating evidence on the impact of policy interventions. Also contributing to related activities including organizing events and trainings, drafting of briefs, talking points, presentations, and collaborating on other corporate documents. Additionally, you will assist with tasks linked to keeping track of products and deliveries of the various technical cooperation provided to member countries. This position requires a proactive approach to advancing the Division’s goals through both rigorous research and practical insights.

You will work in ICS part of Institutions for Development (IFD) department. ICS provides a range of services, including policy advise, knowledge production and dissemination, technical assistance, and financial support. It undertakes sector policy dialogue, develops sector strategies, and implements country programs through a mix of investment projects, policy-based loans and technical assistance grants. It also develops knowledge products, provides advisory services, develops regional initiatives, fosters strategic partnerships and oversees catalytic grant facilities.

What you’ll do

  • Provide support to knowledge products and impact studies for the transparency and integrity team.
  • Identify, compile, organize, and update relevant databases (indicators) for transparency, integrity, and rule of law.
  • Update the indicators in the Transparency and Integrity Country Technical Notes.
  • Contribute to econometric and statistical analyses relevant for the various products and higher management requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports to present findings.
  • Maintain active and effective communication with the research team and other collaborators.
  • Provide support by preparing country-specific sector notes that serve as inputs for CDIs, and management and division briefs.
  • Assist in preparing knowledge documents for the transparency and integrity group prior to initiating publication flows.
  • Assist in tracking corporate activities related to ordering of technical cooperation including keeping track of products, deliveries and resources available.
  • Assist to activities including organizing events and trainings, drafting of briefs, talking points, presentations, and other corporate documents.

What you'll need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Public Administration, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience: At least 2 to 4 years of progressive experience in research in quantitative studies and impact evaluation, including database management, programming (STATA or R) and panel data and time series econometric estimations.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries eligible to obtain a valid residency or legal permit to work without the need for sponsorship by the IDB.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
  • Remote Modality: The selected candidate will not provide services from the Bank’s office and will not be provided a physical space on the premises of the Bank’s Country Office. The candidate selected will be responsible for setting up the space, and for having the equipment, internet, and phone accesses to accomplish this Job Description, outside the Bank’s office. Access to the Bank’s systems will be arranged in coordination with the Bank.

Type of contract and duration

  • Type of contract: National Consultant (Local Remote Modality)
  • Length of contract: 12 months (up to 36 months)
  • Location:100% remotely from placed of residence of selected candidate and service are expected to provide from a country where the IDB Group has offices.
