Updates

  • As part of the various efforts Aqualectra is working on to achieve its goal to provide affordable, sustainable and reliable utility services to the community of Curaçao, Aqualectra and Wärtsilä signed an agreement on September 2nd for the construction of a new power plant, which will be operational by the end of 2025. This plant, along with our new wind turbines, the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and the automated Energy Management System, will bring fundamental changes to the production and distribution of electricity in Curaçao.

  • Yesterday was the last day of transporting the wind turbines to Koraal Tabak. We are extremely proud of the entire team that made this transportation possible. A heartfelt thank you, on behalf of Aqualectra, NuCapital, the Police Force, Openbare Werken, Vestas, and Ter Linden, for your patience with us during the arrival and transportation process of the turbines. Let’s look back on this beautiful collaboration, which undoubtedly marks another historic moment in Curaçao’s sustainable progress.

  • Did you know that our new wind turbines are 150 meters tall? That’s nearly half the height of Mount Christoffel, making them some of the tallest structures on the island! But their height isn’t the only impressive feature—they’re also smart turbines, equipped with advanced technology that allows them to automatically adjust during severe weather, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. These turbines are a vital part of Curaçao’s journey toward a sustainable energy future. Once fully operational, they will help us achieve 50% renewable energy, significantly reducing our carbon footprint and energy costs. Want to learn more about how these turbines are transforming our island’s energy landscape? Check out the video below for more fascinating details!

  • The arrival of the wind turbines in Curaçao is a crucial step toward securing a sustainable energy future for our island. After weeks of careful preparation, including necessary road adjustments, we are thrilled to welcome these state-of-the-art turbines. These turbines are more than just a technological advancement; they are key to achieving our ambitious energy goals. Once connected to Aqualectra’s grid, these turbines will enable Curaçao to reach a 50% sustainable energy penetration, drastically reducing our dependence on imported fuels, lowering electricity costs, and improving our trade balance. This is a vital part of Aqualectra’s broader mission to generate 70% of our energy from renewable sources by 2030, making Curaçao a sustainability leader within the Kingdom. This project also plays a significant role in addressing the challenges of climate change and supporting our island’s economic growth. The construction of the Koral Tabak wind park is possible thanks to the collaboration between Aqualectra, NuCapital Aspiravi, local banks, investors, and the Curaçao government. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved, including Ministers Cijntje and Cooper, for their unwavering support. As we finalize the transportation procedures, we want to express our gratitude for your cooperation. Together, we are paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future for Curaçao.

  • We are embarking on a crucial digital transformation journey. At the heart of this endeavor lies the migration of the SAP ECC system to the cutting-edge SAP S/4HANA platform. This migration represents a pivotal step in modernizing our ERP landscape, unlocking new levels of efficiency, agility, and innovation across business operations. Our migration to S/4HANA is a strategic move aimed at transforming our business operations and driving sustainable growth. This transition will enable us to operate more efficiently, innovate continuously, and lead Curaçao into the future by transforming utilities. We therefore invite well-experienced bidders to submit a proposal for our “Migration SAP S/4HANA”.
